Cordelia Cruises will start sailing its newly acquired ship, Cordelia Sky, from Mumbai on 23 October 2026, adding a second vessel to the Indian cruise operator's fleet and expanding its route network within India and toward Southeast Asia. The announcement was made on 9 September 2026, ahead of the ship's first Indian sailing.

A larger, older ship joining the fleet
Cordelia Sky was built in 1999 and previously operated by Norwegian Cruise Line as Norwegian Sky before its transfer to Cordelia's Indian operations. The ship measures 258 metres in length at roughly 77,104 gross tonnes, with 1,002 staterooms accommodating up to 2,004 guests at double occupancy, making it a larger addition to Cordelia's existing India-based fleet.
Short domestic itineraries from Mumbai
From Mumbai, the ship will run a mix of short sailings: two-night weekend cruises, three-night weekend trips to Goa, four-night Lakshadweep itineraries, and five-night voyages combining Goa and Lakshadweep. The Lakshadweep routes give travellers a rare direct sea option to the archipelago, which otherwise has limited scheduled transport access for tourists.

A longer route into Southeast Asia
Separately, Cordelia Sky will operate seven-night itineraries from Chennai into Southeast Asia, calling at Phuket, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, alongside a corresponding return sailing from Singapore to Chennai. This gives Indian travellers a cruise-based option to the region that doesn't require booking separate international flights for each leg.
Part of a wider fleet expansion
The addition of Cordelia Sky is intended to increase the India-based operator's overall capacity ahead of a further planned addition, another former NCL vessel, Norwegian Sun, expected to join the fleet in 2027. Together, the additions reflect steady growth in India's still-young domestic cruise market over the past few years.
What to confirm before booking
As with any newly launched route, initial sailing dates, cabin categories and fares can shift before and shortly after a maiden season begins. Travellers should confirm current itineraries, port calls and fares directly through Cordelia Cruises' official website or an authorised travel agent before booking.
Traveller tips
- Cordelia Sky's first sailing from Mumbai is scheduled for 23 October 2026; earlier sailing dates advertised elsewhere refer to the ship's prior operator.
- The four-night and five-night itineraries are currently the only scheduled options that include a Lakshadweep call.
- The Chennai-based Southeast Asia route requires a valid passport and, depending on nationality and port calls, visa arrangements for Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
- Confirm sailing dates, fares and cabin availability with Cordelia Cruises' official channels, as details on a newly launched ship can change.
